Order restored: Seeded pairs march through Round of 32 on Day 3 of FIP Bronze Yogyakarta 2026

After Thursday's qualifying chaos, Friday's main-draw opener went largely to script — fourteen of sixteen seeded pairings reached the Round of 16, with one men's seed beaten on court by an Indonesian sibling pairing and one women's seed withdrawing from the tournament before play.

Day 2 was the day of upsets at the FIP Bronze Yogyakarta 2026. Day 3 was the day the bracket re-aligned. Across 16 men's and 15 women's matches played at the Wii Social Hub on Friday — plus one women's walkover — almost every seeded pair did the job they were drawn to do, and the field for Saturday's Round of 16 looks much closer to what the seeding committee had in mind a week ago.

The men's top seeds Mario Melero Bernal of Spain and Pablo Reina Ambel set the tone, dismantling Sweden's Hampus Drakenberg and his Indonesian partner Steven Djayadinata 6–1, 6–0 on Dome A. The No. 2 seeds Francisco Ramirez Navas and Alejandro Calvo Perez — also Spanish — were even more emphatic on West A, beating Indonesia's Eko Wiyono and Ciara Jauzaa 6–0, 6–1. Across the eight men's seeds, only one fell: No. 7 Daniel Quiros Peiro and Sandy Wirawan, who were beaten 6–4, 6–4 on Dome A by the all-Indonesian sibling pairing of Aldila Soemarno and Gilang Soemarno.

The women's draw delivered an even cleaner sweep among the pairs who actually took to court. The No. 2 seeds Elisa Terranova of Italy and Anna Neizvestnaya issued the day's most ruthless statement with a 6–0, 6–0 demolition of Andin Ollynda and Eyrene Purharini on West A. Patricia Ribeiro of Portugal and Carlota Serrano Gonzalez (3) followed with a 6–1, 6–2 win over Joanna Rompies and Kelly Emeralda on Dome A; Karin Ozawa and Jenifer Palma La Cruz (4) won 6–0, 6–2; Adriana Gallardo Salvado and Vinka Chan (5-WC) won 6–0, 6–1; Yuki Kushima and Felicia Kusuma (6) won 6–0, 6–2; and Chika Sato and Mawar Anhar (7) won 6–2, 6–1. The day's one walkover sent Tia Wahyu Dianti and Vania Vera into the Round of 16 after the No. 8 seeds Elena Nogueras Lorenz and Benedikta Gumulya withdrew from the tournament before their first match. Every other seeded women's pair who took to court progressed to the Round of 16.

Three of Day 2's four men's qualifiers also turned up for Friday with mixed fortunes. Adria Mercadal and Raid Rahmat Laleno Mamat — the Spanish-Indonesian pair that won their qualifying final 6–0, 6–0 — kept rolling with a tough three-set 6–2, 6–7, 6–2 win on Dome B against fellow qualifiers Muhammad Nuzhul Patoreang Ijul and Afullah Muhsyarif Aul, a battle of qualifiers that ended one qualifier's tournament. Christian Alvin Edison and Achad Imam Maruf added a 6–2, 7–5 win over Putu Adi Guna and Edward Revilla to reach the Round of 16. Sunu Wahyu Trijati and Iqbal Bilal Saputra, however, were beaten 6–4, 6–3 by the Spanish-Indonesian pair Alvaro Fuertes and Vivin Wibawa, ending the Cinderella story that started on Thursday.

Saturday brings the Round of 16 and the quarter-finals in both genders, compressed into a single day. After Friday's restoration of order, Saturday will be the day the genuine contenders separate from the rest.
